Acclaimed Canadian group Arcade Fire have announced they will return on August 2nd with their new album ‘The Suburbs‘.

Their third studio album was produced by the band along with Coldplay cohort Markus Dravs over the course of the last two years in Montreal and New York. In addition, their new double A-side 12″ single ‘The Suburbs’/’Month Of May‘ was handed it’s first airplay on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show last night (26/5) and will be released today.

Anticipation for the new record has been high following the band’s break since the release of their second LP ‘Neon Bible‘ in 2007. That album, together with their amazing debut ‘Funeral‘, has made them one of the most exciting bands to emerge in recent years, and fans’ expectations were raised further last December when Owen Pallet, who had been working with Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne on the score for the film ‘The Box‘, wrote on Twitter: “Can’t contain it. I just completed 10 days on the best album I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on.”

Arcade Fire will headline this summer’s Reading/Leeds Festivals alongside Guns n Roses and Blink 182 at the end of August.
