Dubliners the Autumn Owls kicked off their SXSW fittingly on St. Patrick’s Day with a gig at the Irish Showcase, and went on to play a further eight shows over the next four days.

Despite their Irish roots, the four-piece, which formed in late 2006, bring a sound to SXSW with tracks that would fit comfortably on Modest Mouse’s The Moon and Antarctica‘, and their Americana-tinge was always going to be a sure fire hit in Austin.

With the festival in full flow, we sat down with Gary, Will, Paul and Niall to run through the origins and future plans for the group, discussed coping with the hectic schedule of SXSW, and there’s also a bonus point up for grabs for anyone who can spot the Commitments reference before the band do…
