Guitarist Ed O’Brien posted on Radiohead‘s official website  that the band was looking forward to getting back in the studio to record their new material and said they were scheduled to start January 2010. The Oxford group had started their latest project this summer.

The vibe within the band  is fantastic but O’Brien added: “For obvious reasons I can’t divulge anything more.. anyway we all love surprises don’t we?”

“What’s reassuring now, is that we are most definitely a different band (to what they were ten years ago), which should therefore mean that the music is different too and that is the aim of the game.  Keep it moving”, he continued.

Currently there is no release scheduled yet for the follow-up to 2007’s ‘In Rainbows‘ but Ed admitted that Radiohead had come a long way since their ‘Kid A’ album in 2000.

“Ten years ago we were all collectively (that’s the band) in the land of ‘Kid A’ .. and although hugely proud of that record, it wasn’t a fun place to be,” he wrote.

“What’s reassuring now, is that we are most definitely a different band, which should therefore mean that the music is different too and that is the aim of the game….keep it moving.”

As we  reported last week  singer Thom Yorke surprised the press corp at the  UN Climate Change summit in Copenhagen and showed up with official press credentials to follow the event and blog about it.
