George Harrison scribbled a number of lines on a piece of scrap paper way back in the 1960’s. It’s the first 10 lines of a forgotten Beatles song called Silence ( Is it’s own reply ) and now, 40 years later, the song has been finished.

The piece of paper was discarded on the floor of the Abbey Road studios before author Hunter Davies who was working on an official biography of the band got his hands on it in 1968.

It was discarded on the floor of the Abbey Road studios before being given to author Hunter Davies for a 1968 official biography of the band.

It was reported that on the back of the paper were instructions on how to reach Beatles manager Brian Epstein’s country house in Sussex.

BBC Radio Meyerside host Spencer Leigh asked contemporary songwriter Dean Johnson to finish them. Apparently the lyrics were at first thought to have been about “love” but are now believed to relate to George’s complex relationship with John Lennon.

The lyrics say in part: “I’m happy to say it’s only a dream, When I come across people like you, It’s only a dream and you make it obscene.”

Dean, from Oxton, Wirral, said: “The words were brutally honest and George was obviously writing from the heart.

“I tried my best to get into the mind of someone in his position.”
