Q Awards Shortlist Announced

Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys

This year’s Q Awards shortlist has been announced, with Arctic Monkeys leading the way having been nominated in four categories. Mercury-nominated acts Kasabian and Florence & The Machine are close behind with three nominations each.

Florence will be hoping her brilliant debut ‘Lungs‘ has better luck in the Best Album category than it did at the recent Mercury Music Prize, but she faces stiff competition from the likes of Kasabian and The Prodigy. Despite recieving a lukewarm response since it’s release, U2’sNo Line On The Horizon‘ also lands a Best Album nomination.

Pop act Take That’s recent successful Wembley shows earn them a nomination for Best Live Act and new female artists dominate the Breakthrough category with Pixie Lott, La Roux, Florence & The Machine and Lady Gaga joining London-based band Mr Hudson in the nominations.

(Mr Hudson, There Will Be Tears)

Despite their acrimonious split last month, Oasis have landed two nominations, in the Best Live Act category, and they will also battle fellow rock heavyweights Kings Of Leon, Muse, Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys in the coveted Best Act In The World Today category.
