Nirvana’s performance at the 1992 Reading Festival is to finally get a release on DVD in November. The CD + DVD package features the full set, though the CD has excluded ‘Love Buzz’.

After speculation during the lead up to the gig, which took place on August 30th, that frontman Kurt Cobain would be unable to play due to ill health, he now famously entered the stage in a wheelchair, before getting up to join the band for the blistering gig dressed in a hospital gown. “Kurt got up from his hospital bed just to play for you,” joked bass player Chris Novoselic.

The gig became famous for the intense power and energy the band played with. In a review for Rolling Stone magazine at the time, Michael Azzarad wrote: ‘The staggering energy and intensity radiating from the stage never let up during the ninety-minute, eighteen-song set, Cobain’s ravaged pop songs coming off like some dream marriage of the Sex Pistols and the Beatles, borne on bracing waves of distorted guitar noise. The madly pogoing crowd was so tightly packed that its body heat generated huge billows of steam, like a human forest fire.’
