Jet frontman Nic Cester was hospitalised last night after twice collapsing on stage during a gig in London.

The band were performing at the Hard Rock Cafe when the singer first collapsed shortly into the show. The band were playing the second song of the set, new single ‘She’s a Genius‘, when Nic suddenly fell to the floor. The rest of the band, Chris Cester (drums), Cameron Muncey (lead guitar) and Mark Wilson (bass), finished the track, after which Nic got back to his feet and joked to the crowd that he had swine flu.

However, Nic then fainted again and was subsequently taken by ambulance to the nearby University College Hospital, where he was treated for symptoms including acute vomiting and dehydration. It has since emerged he had been feeling unwell throughout the day of the gig, and was given an injection after suffering stomach pains before being passed fit for the gig. Bass player Wilson said after that the band had no intention of cancelling the gig: “(we’ve all) had a moment where we’ve been chronically ill and had to go on stage,” he said. “The only time we’ve ever cancelled shows is when Nic’s throat swelled up and he couldn’t actually make any sounds.”

The band are currently on the road in support of new album ‘Shaka Rock’, which is due for release in the UK on September 7th. They are due to being a UK tour in Nottingham on September 9th.
