Reformed boyband Boyzone move back to the top of the Album Chart this week as their new record climbs two places to #1, while Laura Marling’s second LP ‘I Speak Because I Can‘ enters at #4. Gorillaz new album ‘Plastic Beach‘ drops out of the top 10 after 3 weeks. In the Singles Chart, Lady Gaga’s single ‘Telephone‘ remains on top for a second week.
After waiting 28 weeks to get to the top, Florence & The Machine’s debut ‘Lungs‘ has stayed at #1 in this week’s Album Chart for a second consecutive week. Welsh rockers Lostprophets‘ fourth studio album ‘The Betrayed‘ has entered at #3 and Vampire Weekend’s ‘Contra‘ has held on to a top 10 spot in it’s second week, dropping six places to #9. Owl City, the new synth-inspired project from Adam Young, has swapped places with hip-hop act Iyaz to top the Singles Chart with ‘Fireflies‘.
Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini‘s record ‘Sunny Side Up’ remains on top of the Album chart this week, while London-based four-piece Mumford & Sons have climbed thirteen places to #7. Rapper Iyaz has scored the number one single with ‘Replay’.
Australian band The Temper Trap have two tracks in the Indie Top 10 and Lostprophets’ new single ‘Where We Belong’ debuts at three this week in a chart which is topped by Dance DJ Sidney Samson.
Canadian crooner Michael Buble’s Crazy Love, which has been in the charts for ten weeks, toppled Susan Boyle’s debut album I Dreamed A Dream from the top spot.
Elsewhere in the album chart, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa and JLS stayed in the same place to complete the top five.
Chuckie & LMFAO managed to hold on to the Indie chart’s top spot with ‘Let the Bass kick in Miami Girl‘ while solo flying Julian Casablancas from the Strokes managed to sing his way into the hearts and souls of the holiday fans with his Christmas rocker’ I wish it was Christmas Today‘ edging its way into the top 10 at #9.
Susan Boyle tops the Album Chart for a second week with her album ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ shifting another 300,000 copies this week. Elsewhere, two popular boybands scored new entries in the top 10 with Westlife’s ‘Where We Are’ entering at no.2 and Take That’s ‘The Greatest Day – The Circus Live’ hitting no.3. In the Singles Chart, comedian Peter Kay’s charity record for the BBC’s Children In Need charity retains it’s place at no.1.
2008 X Factor winner Leona Lewis tops the album chart this week with her second record ‘Echo’, ending pop group JLS’ short stay at the summit. A new greatest hits compilation from rock group Queen entitled ‘Absolute Greatest’ has entered at #3, while Robbie Williams‘ new album ‘Reality Killed The Video Star’ has dropped a couple of places to #4. Hit TV show The X Factor has also scored this week’s number one single, with this year’s finalists hitting the top spot with a cover of Michael Jackson‘s ‘You Are Not Alone’.
In the album chart this week pop group JLS hit the top spot with their self-titled new album, while Robbie Williams, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol all have new entries in the top 10. Black Eyed Peas continue their recent success in the singles chart with their track ‘Meet Me Halfway‘ moving up two places to top the chart this week.
London-based rapper Chipmunk tops this week’s singles chart with ‘Oopsy Daisy‘. Meanwhile, Barbara Streisand tops an album chart dominated by veteran crooners which include Vera Lynn, Cliff Richard, Andy Williams and Chris Rea.

London-based Taio Cruz tops the Singles chart this week, while Madonna’s single ‘Celebration’ enters the top 10. Muse’s new album ‘The Resistance’ debuts at #1 in the Albums chart, and the top 10 also has new entries from Peter Andre, Pixie Lott, Mark Knopfler and Jay-Z. Kings Of Leon’s ‘Only By The Night’ celebrates a year in the charts, still going strong at #7.
In the Singles Chart, Jay-Z is at the top with ‘Run This Town’, while Kings Of Leon’s recent Reading/Leeds festival appearences have lifted ‘Sex On Fire‘ back into the top 10. The Album Chart sees Arctic Monkeys on top for another week with ‘Humbug’ and the sales boost for Kings Of Leon also pushes ‘Only By The Night’ up to 4.
