Summer’s here and up and down the UK and beyond bands are hauling themselves through rain, mud, occasional sunshine and irritating TV presenters as another festival season gets in full swing. So with 2011 already careering towards July, it seems like a good time to sit back, take stock of the first six months of the year, and sort through the best of what has been hogging the speakers at Live4ever so far. Is rock n roll music currently in a state of stagnation? Hmm, let’s just say, judge for yourself…

If you were at Live4ever’s Two Fingered Salute during Austin’s SXSW Music Festival this past March, you know just how powerful the live show put on by Twin Atlantic can be. Touring in support of their 2009 debut album ‘Vivarium’ (RedBull Records), the Glaswegian alt-rock quartet has been thrilling audiences not just in Austin, Texas, but throughout the UK and the US, with its energetic and raucous performances.
Having shaken off the dust of the road and having cashed in heaps of frequent flyer miles, Twin Atlantic returned to the studio and are now emerging with their second full length release, ‘Free‘, which drops on RedBull Records on May 3rd in the States. Hey… that’s today! Go out and get it!

Belsonic 2010 plays host to a plethora of bands over a two week stint of gigs. The festival moves towards its conclusion on Sunday night but on Saturday last (08/28//10) the square at Customs House was the venue for alternative rockers Biffy Clyro, Lost Prophets, Fight With Wire and Twin Atlantic – who I am here to see.
It would be an understatement to say that 2010 has already been a landmark year for Live4ever’s friends Twin Atlantic. From a triumphant hometown show selling out the 1250-capacity Glasgow ABC, to a European stint with Enter Shikari and culminating an epic US tour, Twin Atlantic have already hit 17 countries this year and are becoming a truly world-beating band.
