Two Door Cinema Club, The xx, The Horrors and Spiritualized are some of the leading names confirmed today for this year’s Bestival event.
The xx have begun work on the follow up to their Mercury Music Prize winning, 2009 eponymous debut album, according to a post by the band on their newly launched blog.
It has been uncertain as to whether the band were even considering recording a second studio effort, but those doubts have been put to bed today with a post on xx-xx.co.uk which reads:
Everything Everything and The xx are amongst the acts nominated for this year’s 56th Ivor Novello Awards.
The full list of nominations for the 2011 Brit Awards has been announced today, with Mumford & Sons and The xx carrying the rock torch with three nominations each, while Arcade Fire and Kings Of Leon receive nods in two categories.

After the unanimous critical acclaim afforded to their self-titled debut album was topped off with their win at last night’s Mercury Music Prize ceremony, The xx have said they will use the £20,000 winners cheque to build a brand new studio.
The xx have won this year’s Mercury Music Prize, and received a cheque for £20,000 at a ceremony in London this evening.
As his recent album ‘Wake Up The Nation‘ is set to learn it’s fate at tonight’s Mercury Music Prize ceremony, Paul Weller has revealed he is already close to completing it’s follow-up.
