The Maccabees have extended their early 2012 UK tour as they prepare for the release of third studio album ‘Given To The Wild‘.
In addition to previously announced dates in Glasgow, Newcastle, London, Birmingham and Manchester, The Maccabees will now open the tour on January 21st at the Sheffield Leadmill.
The Maccabees have today given fans the first taste of their new album ‘Given To The Wild‘, releasing the audio for ‘Pelican‘ to the online world which can be listened to here.
‘Given To The Wild’ is to be released this coming January, and was recorded at Rockfield Studios with Massive Attack cohorts Tim Goldsworthy and Bruno Ellingham. Speaking earlier this month, guitarist Felix White stated his belief that The Maccabees’ new record will for the first time showcase the band’s core sound:
Brighton band The Maccabees have said they believe they have finally nailed their sound on the forthcoming third studio album ‘Given To The Wild‘.
Guitarist Felix White has said the record has been inspired by “disparate musical peers” such as The Stone Roses, Kate Bush and David Bowie, and will, for the first time, truly portray how they want their band to sound.
The Maccabees have confirmed the final tracklisting for their forthcoming album, and have also revealed the record’s title and release date.
The Maccabees have unveiled a series of UK tour dates for next month as they close in on the completion of a third studio album.
The tour will be launched at Gloucester’s Guildhall on October 21st, with two dates in Scotland following at the Glasgow Arches and Edinburgh’s Liquid Rooms on October 26th and 27th respectively. As the tour moves into November, the final two dates will arrive in London and Bristol.
Brighton indie types The Maccabees are closing in on the completion of their third album, which they say is now at the ‘final stage’.
Speaking to NME at last weekend’s Bestival event on the Isle Of Wight, Hugo White revealed the band are now at the mixing stage, but have yet to put names to all of their new material.

It didn’t take long after arriving through the gates on Friday to guess where most people’s thoughts for the day ahead were focused. There’s countless Libertines t-shirts proudly on display amongst those soaking up the sun on the first day, and the anticipation for the gig which some thought, even after the news of their reunion, would never happen is obvious. There’s been mumblings of an underwhelming line-up at the Reading/Leeds festivals this year, but in isolation, the Friday billing at Leeds is as strong as any of the UK festivals can boast this summer.
