The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has confirmed the Las Vegas band will release a new album in 2012, but has said the four piece are still unsure as to what time of year the record will be unveiled to the world.
The Killers have marked their stirring from a short hiatus with the announcement of a new Christmas single to be released tomorrow (December 1st).
The Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci has promised ‘more guitars’ on their new album after the synth-heavy 2008 effort ‘Day & Age‘.
Vannucci also told the NME they plan to hit the studio next month to begin recording new material, but have yet to decide on a producer, though they do have ‘people in mind’.
The Killers stuck to the classics during their Hard Rock Calling headline performance last night (June 24th), as the reports of new material being debuted during the show proved unfounded.
There was also no individual spots from each member, something else which had been mooted thanks to the launch of solo careers by frontman Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci since The Killers took a short hiatus at the beginning of 2010.
The Killers made their live return to the UK last night (June 22nd), playing the first of two warm-up shows at the London Scala ahead of a headline appearance at Hard Rock Calling this weekend.
The gig was their first on British soil since a 2009 V Festival appearance, and speaking to NME before the show, frontman Brandon Flowers admitted to nerves as he prepares to re-acclimatise to bigger gigs after his recent solo tours.

Flowers was speaking to Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe ahead of two London dates tonight (June 22nd) and tomorrow, in preparation for their major live return at Hard Rock Calling this weekend.
