Foo Fighters launched their Australian tour in Perth last night (November 28th) with a career-spanning set which also included covers of Pink Floyd, Queen and Tom Petty.
Brian May has said he and Roger Taylor are constantly discussing the possibility of touring once again under the Queen banner, and are on the look-out for a new singer after Paul Rodgers filled the role between 2004-2009, with popstar Lady Gaga now one of May’s preferred options.
May and Taylor toured with the former Bad Company and Free frontman primarily in 2008, after releasing the album ‘Cosmos Rocks‘ that year. However, not long after those touring duties were completed, Rodgers revealed their collaboration had come to an end, and now May has singled out Lady Gaga as someone whom we would be happy to perform live with in the future.
On the day of Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday, check out this live performance of ‘Tie Your Mother Down’
Fans of seminal British rock band Queen have voted the group’s 1979 single ‘Don’t Stop Me Now‘ as containing their greatest lyric, on the day which would’ve marked Freddie Mercury‘s 65th birthday.
The song’s chorus lyric, “Don’t stop me now, I’m having such a good time, I’m having a ball”, has come out on top of a poll of 3,000 Queen devotees conducted by HMV, with ‘The Show Must Go On‘s “My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies, fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die. I can fly my friends”, being voted second.
British rock band Queen are to be honoured at the annual BMI Awards this October.
The band will join past winners such as Don Black, Van Morrison, Donovan, James Brown and Willie Nelson when they are handed the BMI Icons gong at the event which recognises the most performed UK and European songwriters and publishers on US radio and television.
As MTV celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, here the Live4ever Ezine picks ten of our essential British music videos of all time to mark this significant occasion. While some pre-date the MTV revolution, they all represent the best of a medium which was transformed when the station launched back in 1981.
From the innovation of Queen‘s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘, to the playful nature of ‘Whatever‘ and ‘Bad Cover Version‘, via the emphasis on human emotion featured on ‘Just‘ and ‘Bittersweet Symphony‘, these videos chart the rise of the music promo from its basic state to the leading role it now plays in any band’s life. Yep, this particular anniversary is a good opportunity for those bands who have spent long hours in a TV studio perfecting their lip-syncing technique to raise a glass to the ripest fruits of their labour.
US rockers the Foo Fighters were joined by Alice Cooper and Queen drummer Roger Taylor during their first Milton Keynes Bowl gig last night (July 2nd).
The show launched a busy summer of high profile outdoor UK gigs for the band, who had considerable support on the night from Biffy Clyro, Death Cab For Cutie and Tame Impala.
Alice Cooper has placed Hollywood star Johnny Depp in the same exalted company as celebrated rock guitarists Slash and Brian May after he was recently joined on stage by Depp during a gig at London’s 100 Club.
Speaking to Bang! Showbiz, Cooper declared his intention to work with Depp again, and lauded his guitar-playing talents which he claims is comparable to the Guns n Roses and Queen legends.
In a rare interview, actor Nicky Evans talks exclusively about finding rave culture, his PC wiping a ‘concept album’ away, how a bout of malaria landed him the Shameless gig, and bumping into his character Shane Maguire at a Rage Against the Machine gig.
