The ‘Rev’ Takes On NME in Twitter Debate

Jon McClure, better know as The Reverend, lead singer of Reverend And The Makers, tell us tonight “All their journos are white…., hopefully they may put Dizzee Rascal on the front cover under new editor”

The Rev’s views come from his twitter page only a couple of hours ago. Jon has had a very tense and rollercoaster ride of a relationship with the NME and more so with its Ex-Editor Conor McNicholas. Jon went on a rant tonight about how he felt the NME has been “downgraded to a fuckin spite rag under connor mchnicolas ” and says “quit being so fucking spiteful and londoncentric cos ppl hate u nme”

Starting up his own debate platform with Instigate Debate, McClure is a political force for the younger generation. The End for Music Magazines ?

The future for the NME is looking bleak and not too rosy for competitors  Kerrang! either. The latest numbers released today by ABC magazine showed poor circulation figures for the two UK music magazines.

Sales of IPC Media’s NME have taken a nose dive and are down 27% on year.  There were just around 40’000 weekly copies sold in June.  Newly  appointed editor Krissi Murison is due to take control of the sinking ship  on September 1 following the departure of Conor McNicholas,

Bauer Media’s metal publication Kerrang! had some alarming numbers of their own as sales dropped 28% year on year to 43,253.
