Kings Of Leon To Release Live DVD From O2 Arena Show

Posted on 27 Aug 2009 at 12:19pm

US Indie super stars Kings of Leon continue to tour in the wake of 2008′s platinum “Only By Night,” and are planning some new projects for the fall — their focus is now on the new album.

The rock ‘family’ quartet plans to release a live DVD and a remix album in the coming months. Billboard recently spoke to the band ans asked why London’s O2 arena was chosen as the location for the DVD live shoot last July. Drummer Nathan Followill explained, “England is really the first place we broke…We figured what better place to make a live DVD than where the fans have been the craziest for the longest?” The show featured some choice rarities, and Followill says “we just put the cameras in the back of our minds and acted like they weren’t even there.”

The remix album came to life after Kings of Leon learned that other artists such as Justin Timberlake and PharrellRonson had started working on revisions of the band’s songs. Mark , Kenna, Lykke Li and Linkin Park are also contributing tracks, according to Nathan.

“It’s neat to have these people who we would’ve jumped at the chance to work with ourselves…coming to us before we even get a chance to ask them,” the drummer says. “It’s amazing to hear your song played by these people who are so creative. Most of the time it takes me two or three listens to even wrap my head around, ‘Oh man, that’s our song…’”

Thom Yorke To Produce Songs for The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Posted on 25 Jul 2009 at 1:22pm

So the rumor that started earlier this week turned out to be true, The Twilight Saga: New Moon is going to feature a pretty cool soundtrack, possibly even better than that of the first film. DirectorChris Weitz confirmed in an interview with HitFix.com that Thom Yorke and Justin Vernon (AKA: Bon Iver) will both produce new songs for the movie.

Well, supposedly. “ says he wrote it for the film, but who ever knows if it might just be something laying around in his cupboard,” Weitz joked. He went on to say he’d be happy with pretty much anything Yorke contributed , “unless it’s sounds of him belching.”

Although happy, Weitz is still hopeful to get more big names on board and admits that the Kings of Leon are still tops on his wish list. Not that the bands super hit “Sex on Fire” would exactly be the best choice for such an uber clean teeny series….. An important goal for Weitz is to fill the sound track with music the actors , crew and himself are really into. In this case after all, the music is hardly plays a make-or-break element with a franchise as popular as Twilight. Teenage girls are bound to show up in swarms regardless of what soundtrack is played while Edward and Bella stare longingly into each others’ eyes .  The movie is slated for release in November 09.
