Metallica have signed up the Red Hot Chili Peppers to headline the second edition of their Orion Festival, which will be held this year over the weekend of June 8th–9th at Belle Island in Detroit, Michigan.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has said he can’t think anyone he would rather drum with than former Oasis guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher.

A long time and vocal fan of Gallagher’s former band, Ulrich has now told NME he would happily join Noel’s new solo venture as drummer if asked. “I’m hard pressed to think of anyone I would rather drum with than Noel Gallagher,” he said.

“I have to say the fellow with the Clockwork Orange get up at the back is doing a stellar job, when I saw them in L.A in December it was fabulous. You know, if Noel and the other 37,000 drummers on this planet turn him down I’ll certainly play with him.”

“I’m certainly not sure he’d ever want to pick me, but I’d put together a pretty solid groove thing back there. I’d make the songs bounce to the best of my ability. Although I’m not sure he’d take me quite seriously.”

Metallica fans rioted in India last weekend after a scheduled gig in Delhi was called off due to apparent safety concerns.

The gig had been due to take place in Delhi last Friday (October 28th), but was cancelled when a safety barrier at the front of the stage collapsed, the BBC reports that the show’s organisers have since been arrested. When the decision to pull the show was announced, dozens of fans invaded the stage, destroying instruments and equipment.

Former Ramones bass player C.J Ramone has revealed he turned down the chance to join Metallica after the departure of Jason Newsted.

C.J made the admission to Greatsouthernbrainfart.com, explaining how Metallica acted upon a tip off from his one-time bandmate Johnny Ramone with an offer on two separate occasions.
