Foo Fighters, Radiohead and Coldplay are amongst the rock acts leading the way for the 2011 Grammy Awards.
Foo Fighters launched their Australian tour in Perth last night (November 28th) with a career-spanning set which also included covers of Pink Floyd, Queen and Tom Petty.
US rock stars the Foo Fighters have been confirmed as headliners for the first ever Brazilian edition of the Lollapalooza music festival.
The event, organised by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, will expand to Brazil on April 7th and 8th next year, and is to be held at the Jockey Club in Sao Paulo. Also headlining will be British chart star Tinie Tempah.
Foo Fighters were named Band Of The Year at the 2011 Classic Rock Awards, which were held at London’s Roundhouse venue last night (November 9th).
The Foos have enjoyed a successful year off the back of seventh studio album ‘Wasting Light‘, which topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and received universal praise from critics.
Foo Fighters mainman Dave Grohl has criticised the use of his name on the posthumous Michael Jackson album ‘Michael‘, as the drumming he contributed to the record never actually made the final cut.
Speaking to Red Bulletin, Grohl explained how a phonecall from Lenny Kravitz led to him providing drums on one track, but that his association with the album abruptly ended there.
Dave Grohl, never one to shy away from offering his considerable services to friends in the music world, has temporarily joined Cage The Elephant after the band’s drummer Jared Champion fell ill with a burst appendix on October 10th.
Grohl is expected to again fill in for Champion at the Los Angeles Forum tonight (October 13th), where Cage The Elephant are due to continue their support role on the Foo Fighters‘ current US tour.
Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons and The Black Keys will battle it out for the Favourite Alternative/Rock Artist gong at the 2011 American Music Awards after the shortlist was announced today (October 11th) at the J.W. Marriott in Los Angeles.
