Interview: Clint Boon and The Jessie Rose Trip @ Future Perfect, Manchester

Manchester recently hosted the fifth annual Future Perfect fundraising event, bringing a fantastic line up to the Castlefield Arena with bands and artists such as The Rain Band, Supajamma and Rowetta appearing along with comedian Russell Howard.

This year’s event, led by Garth Brooks and Graham Massey, was given an added poignancy as those gathered helped to raise money for Christie’s Cancer Hospital in the name of one of the original Future Perfect organisers and DJs Lee Wyatt, who lost his battle with the disease last year.

When Glasgow meets Las Vegas it’s like having The Killers over for tea at Mogwai’s rocket space house in some distant galaxy of harmonia. The Doves have flown in. They’re all drinking from vessels of rapture and nibbling cosmic hot rocks as they ascend to the heights of astral waves. They find Bono there, he is puzzled, and the gang direct him accordingly and wrongly- sending him to a galaxy far away.

Following Kasabian’s headline shows at last weekend’s V Festival, their final scheduled dates, frontman Tom Meighan told the UK’s News Of The World newspaper he is looking into new solo projects to keep him busy during the band’s down-time.

Doves Not Splitting – 2 Year Break Planned

Loyal Doves fans worry not – the beloved Manchester band is not breaking up but rather taking a 2 year break from touring and recording, it was revealed yesterday. “We just to get off that whole album-tour-album-tour treadmill,” singer Jimi Goodwin said.

Stereophonics Want Unsigned Band For Stadium Gig

Welsh rockers Stereophonics have launched a competition which will result in an unsigned Welsh band supporting them at their upcoming summer show at the Cardiff City Stadium on June 5th.
