UK chart-topper Adele has hailed Bon Iver‘s new self-titled album as her favourite of the year so far, after the record went in at number 3 on the Album Chart yesterday.
Writing on her blog Adele, whose own album ‘21‘ has dominated the charts for most of the year, praised the talents of Bon Iver leader Justin Vernon.
Bon Iver‘s new self-titled album has debuted at #3 on this week’s UK Album chart, with Lady Gaga moving to the top to replace last week’s no.1 ‘Progress‘ which drops to no.3. Elsewhere, Arctic Monkeys‘ ‘Suck It and See‘ continues going strong in the top ten (#6), and Foo Fighters remain in the top 20 (#16).
You know when you wait an age for a follow-up album to an earth-shattering debut, praying to the great turntable in the sky that it’s as good as the first one?
Then you hear it, and your wish is granted. It is as good. In fact, it’s exactly the same as the first album. Oh well. That was forty minutes of your life you’ll never see again.
With that in mind – good news for Bon Iver fans. Your wish has been ignored.
Bon Iver leader Justin Vernon has revealed he was recently approached by Neil Young with a view to the possibility of the pair working together – just one of many requests Vernon has said he is currently dealing with.
Bon Iver have released details of a UK tour scheduled to begin in October, as they gear up for the release of their self-titled second album next month.
Indie folk act Bon Iver, led by songwriter Justin Vernon, has formed an unlikely alliance with US superstar Kanye West, and is now set to appear on the rapper’s forthcoming album, joining the likes of Beyonce and Jay-Z on the new record.
To fit the description of a music business mogul, no one could be more suited than Tom Silverman. One of the prominent and seminal self-made figures in the industry, passing enthusiasts will undoubtedly be familiar with his name and, of course, his company that became one of the most successful of all independent labels, Tommy Boy Records.
So the rumor that started earlier this week turned out to be true, The Twilight Saga: New Moon is going to feature a pretty cool soundtrack, possibly even better than that of the first film. DirectorChris Weitz confirmed in an interview with HitFix.com that Thom Yorke and Justin Vernon (AKA: Bon Iver) will both produce new songs for the movie.
Well, supposedly. “ says he wrote it for the film, but who ever knows if it might just be something laying around in his cupboard,” Weitz joked. He went on to say he’d be happy with pretty much anything Yorke contributed , “unless it’s sounds of him belching.”
Although happy, Weitz is still hopeful to get more big names on board and admits that the Kings of Leon are still tops on his wish list. Not that the bands super hit “Sex on Fire” would exactly be the best choice for such an uber clean teeny series….. An important goal for Weitz is to fill the sound track with music the actors , crew and himself are really into. In this case after all, the music is hardly plays a make-or-break element with a franchise as popular as Twilight. Teenage girls are bound to show up in swarms regardless of what soundtrack is played while Edward and Bella stare longingly into each others’ eyes . The movie is slated for release in November 09.
