Bloc Party are recording a batch of new material which they hope to release in EP form later this year, that’s according to guitarist Russell Lissack.
Lissack told the Miami New Times that six tracks have been worked on, including one with the title ‘Children Of The Future‘. “We still need to do the vocals, but we’ve been working on six new songs,” Lissack reveals.
“Depending on how the finished things pan out, we’re either going to put out a single or an EP. I think in June or July. That’s one of the songs that could potentially be on it.”
“I think all six songs are very different. I think all the records we’ve made have been quite eclectic, and this EP is no different. I’m not sure ultimately what songs will be released, but there’s quite a variety of songs and sounds coming up.”
Bloc Party returned from a lengthy hiatus last year with the release of their imaginatively titled fourth album ‘Four‘.
Kele Okereke and his band mates in Bloc Party have been making music on and off since 1999. The “veterans” have sold over 2 million albums world wide and are about to head ‘down under’ to play some festivals in Australia. Andy Crossland captured these great shots for us at last Friday’s scheduled stop at Earls Court, London.
Bloc Party will release ‘Truth‘, the latest single to be taken from their 2012 album ‘Four‘, next month.
Bloc Party will return to the US in December for a fresh run of live shows as they prepare to wrap up a current tour of North America tomorrow night (September 29th) in Vancouver.
Bloc Party‘s comeback record ‘Four‘ has missed out on the UK Album Chart’s top spot this week, with Emeli Sande‘s ‘Our Version Of Events‘ instead remaining at number one.
After Bloc Party hosted a free gig in London last night (August 22nd) to celebrate their new album ‘Four‘s early rise to the top of the midweek UK Album Chart, latest figures now have the record trailing Emeli Sande‘s ‘Our Version Of Events‘ by just 200 sales.
