Smashing Pumpkins‘ mainman Billy Corgan has criticised influential US website Pitchfork, stating his belief that its often elitist nature is harming, rather than helping, new bands break through.
Billy Corgan has described today’s music scene as being ‘taken over by posers’ during an address at the South By Southwest festival.
Apparently it wasn’t part of any planned stage acrobatics when Billy Corgan collapsed on stage during his show with the Smashing Pumpkins on Wednesday night. The group was in Tampa, Fla performing at the Ritz Ybor when the outspoken front man slumped backwards and fell into his guitar cabinet.
Billy Corgan appears to have re-fueled his feud with former partner Courtney Love after the Smashing Pumpkins frontman launched an attack on the Hole singer via Twitter.
Courtney Love has responded to recent comments from Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan after he told Rolling Stone he would not be happy with Courtney using his material on new Hole records. “…it would be a real big problem, because I haven’t given my permission,” he said. “I have no interest in supporting her in any way, shape or form. You can’t throw enough things down the abyss with a person like that.”
