The Fiery Furnaces return with first new music in ten years

The Fiery Furnaces have returned today with their first new music in ten years.

Eleanor and Matthew Friedberger had hoped to make their comeback at the Pitchfork Music Festival next month before it was cancelled for reasons which shouldn’t need explaining, but do have a new single available now via Third Man Records entitled Down At The So And So On Somewhere, whose 7″ version is backed by another new track, The Fortune Teller’s Revenge.

“This is the first new music from The Fiery Furnaces in ten years,” they say. “The songs were recorded in New York City and a few hours north of New York City on February 3 and February 10 – 12, 2020. Down At The So And So On Somewhere is a regretful song about having regrets. Now it seems even more sad than we thought it was back then.”

The Fiery Furnaces emerged into the 2003 New Rock Revolution on Rough Trade with their debut album Gallowsbird’s Bark, and by 2009 had released another eight full length records.
