Liam Gallagher has confirmed Shockwave will be the first single from his second solo album, one which he revealed on Twitter earlier this week will be called Why Me? Why Not – another apparent nod to his hero John Lennon.

Shockwave is the first new material from Gallagher since his 2017 solo debut As You Were firmly cemented a return to the top table of British music for the Oasis frontman – a comeback which is about to be documented on the film As It Was. “I’m buzzing,” he says.

“Buzzing to be alive, buzzing to be making tunes, raring to go. It’s nice to be back with some new music because it means I can get out there, play some gigs and give some people some stick because that is what I do. Let’s face it, it’s boring without me.”

Gallagher will start the road to Glastonbury with a a special ‘underplay’ event at Hackney Round Chapel in London on June 5th.
