It was back in January when Michael Lang, co-founder of Woodstock, announced he would be staging his own tribute concert on its 50th anniversary to rival one planned to take place at the 15,000-seat venue which currently resides on the site of the original event, claiming his would be ‘the only authorized commemoration of the iconic 1969 festival’.

“The Woodstock 50th Anniversary will be about sharing an experience with great artists and encouraging people to get educated and involved in the social issues impacting everyone on the planet,” he said.

“It’s so inspiring to see young people today channeling their passion into causes they care about. That’s something that’s always been a part of Woodstock’s mission, and it’s a big focus at the 50th festival.”

Has the newly revealed line-up delivered on the spirit of 1969? Judge for yourself; Jay Z, Miley Cyrus and Chance The Rapper are some of the big current starts to have signed up, while Robert Plant, Santana, David Crosby and John Fogerty are some of the sixties veterans who’ll be there.

It takes place at Watkins Glen in New York from August 16th-18th.
