The Flaming Lips brought the first day of this year’s Bluedot Festival to a close last night, and Live4ever’s Gary Mather was there to capture the action.

The Chemical Brothers and Future Islands are also headlining the event at Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire, acts which organiser Ben Robinson was delighted to secure. “Our mission is to not only erode the boundaries between science, culture, art and technology but to also highlight the beauty and fragility of our planet Earth,” he said.

“And what a better way to achieve this by opening proceedings with such a remarkable and enlightening spectacle. It’s going to be truly incredible and a real festival highlight.”
