Noel Gallagher lent heavily on his most recent solo album Who Built The Moon? as his 2018 world tour began in Detroit last night.

Opening with a live version of Fort Knox, the High Flying Birds went on to air Holy Mountain, Keep On Reaching, It’s A Beautiful World, She Taught Me How To Fly, Be Careful What You Wish For, Black & White Sunshine and Dead In The Water from the 2017 record, whilst also performing settled solo favourites such as Ballad Of The Mighty I and If I Had A Gun.

Whilst younger brother Liam has rebuilt his fortunes on the foundations of former band Oasis, Gallagher was much more selective of its back catalogue, with Go Let It Out being the only surprise on the night.

There was also room for a cover of The Beatles‘ 1967 single All You Need Is Love, which after first being performed live by Gallagher on a Jools Holland special nearly 20 years ago and much more recently at the BBC’s 2017 Sports Personality Of The Year ceremony, looks like now becoming a regular in his live repertoire.
