Jake Bugg‘s next album is being previewed with the track ‘On My One‘ which can be downloaded right now for free over on his official website.

Bugg’s spoken of hip hop influences on his third album, but this track bares all the hallmarks of his earliest fifties rock and roll heroes.

The Nottingham songwriter’s live return is getting into gear too, and he’s been added to the line-up for Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac’s broadcast from the Forum in London next week.

Bugg is expected to go it alone for the first time in songwriting terms on his follow-up to 2013’s ‘Shangri-La‘ having previously enlisted the help of co-writers on select tracks.

It looks like being self-produced too; he told the BBC his label had rejected tracks recorded with a producer in favour of his own rough demos.

“Weirdly enough the label preferred my recordings to the producer I’d been recording with,” he said. “It wasn’t my choice, it was their choice. So they must be OK. I’ve been mixing them and making them sound real sharp and real nice.”
