The Mallrats and Calls Landing have both won competitions to gain a place on the Reading/Leeds Festival line-up this coming Bank Holiday weekend.

The Centre Stage competition was launched in 2009, and as well as giving one young band the chance to play at Leeds and Reading, also helps raise to funds for the Martin House Children’s Hospice.

It’s been won this year by trio The Mallrats, who will slot into the BBC Introducing Stage line-up later this month.

The Futuresound competition has also been running for another year, offering the chance for an upcoming band to open the Lock Up Stage, while five runners-up too get a chance to play the BBC Introducing Stage. The winners for 2015 are local Leeds band Calls Landing, who’ll now be performing along side the likes of New Found Glory, Ghost and Refused.

The BBC Introducing Stage line-up will be announced in full on Tuesday, August 11th on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show.
