Foals have made their new album ‘What Went Down‘ available in full via Spotify and you can take a listen at the end of this article.
Since a relatively inconspicuous start immersed in the guitar-led commercial boom of the mid-noughties, Foals have blossomed into one of the UK’s brightest bands, marrying a lust for progression with an infectious drive for powerful, accessible melody through 2010’s ‘Total Life Forever‘ and the 2013 follow-up ‘Holy Fire‘.
‘What Went Down’ looks set to be no less irresistible, and is out officially today (August 28th). “The recorded version is the first one we ever played,” frontman Yannis Philippakis told NME of its title-track.
“I re-recorded the vocals but the rest of it is raw. It’s one of those moments you can have if you’re lucky in the studio where things seem to materialise fully-formed. We wanted it to feel like the moment when a predatory animal goes in for the kill: there’s a savagery to it.”
