The Libertines went right back to their raucous, house party roots last night (July 28th) with a secret gig at the Blues Kitchen in Camden, north London.

Although the gig was unannounced, hundreds of fans had reportedly packed into the venue by the time the band made their way to the venue at around 10pm.

The subsequent two-hour show was only brought to an end by a mass stage invasion after crowd surfing, impromptu trips to the bar and a series of requested covers.

These included a version of The Clash‘s ‘London Calling‘ classic ‘Rudie Can’t Fail‘ and The Stone Roses‘ equally lauded ‘I Wanna Be Adored‘, as well as a more unusual take of Tiffany‘s eighties bubblegum pop hit ‘I Think We’re Alone Now‘.

The Libertines have been promising some special events for fans in the run up to the release of comeback album ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth‘ in September.
