Dave Grohl has said he ‘cried like a baby’ after being sent a clip of Florence & The Machine covering the Foo Fighters at Glastonbury last month.

Florence Welch moved up one spot to headline the first night at Worthy Farm this year after Dave Grohl’s broken leg forced the Foos into a late cancellation.

“I was totally looking forward to playing with them at Glastonbury,” Grohl has told Q. “When we cancelled and they were searching for a replacement I prayed they’d just move them to the top of the bill because they deserve to be there. I was so excited when they announced they would, I emailed Florence to congratulate her.”

Florence & The Machine subsequently put their own stamp on ‘Times Like These‘ during their performance, and it certainly won Grohl over. “The day after the gig, someone sent me a link to the performance and I cried like a baby,” he continued.

“It melted my heart. I am forever indebted to them. It meant so much, you have no idea.”

Foo Fighters are odds-on favourites to headline Glastonbury next year, with some reports claiming a deal has already been agreed.
