The opportunity to complete a first full public reunion for The Jam since their abrupt end in 1982 was shunned by drummer Rick Buckler, according to reports.

Opening today at Somerset House in London, The Jam: About The Young Idea exhibition has been curated by Paul Weller‘s sister Nicky and features various bits of memorabilia donated by the three former bandmates, as well as their families and friends.

It had been hoped that the exhibition would see Weller, Buckler, and bass player Bruce Foxton, appear together in public for the first time in over three decades. However, despite Weller and Foxton being in attendance for the opening, Buckler was not.

“When we were in the band, I would never have thought that some 35-odd years later, there would be an exhibition in our name at Somerset House,” Weller is quoted as saying in The Telegraph. “How incredible it is to think of all the memorabilia from the band, our families and fans together in one place. What an honour.”

A new compilation album of the same name, meanwhile, could enter the Top 20 on the UK charts this weekend according to the official midweek update.
