The Maccabees have continued the tradition of unusual covers at the Radio 1 Live Lounge after performing their version of Major Lazer‘s recent single ‘Lean On‘ during a session for DJ Greg James.

The Maccabees are finally returning after a long spell on the sidelines slaving away on the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Given To The Wild‘. They unveiled first single ‘Marks To Prove It‘ last month ahead of an expected album release later in the year.

“It just had to be good enough,” the band have told NME. “We thought it was going to be finished a year ago, but it just weren’t quite there and now I think it’s magic, so it’s done.”

“The first single is maybe the quickest thing we’ve ever done. Quickest, loudest and also slowest, in parts. It’s opposite to ‘Give To The Wild’ in every kind of way, it sounds like a band in a room. I think the songs are a lot better.”
