The UK is heading to the ballot-box today for the 2015 General Election, but one man who definitely won’t be taking part is Paul Weller.

Despite being a vocal supporter of the Labour Party back in the eighties, as a part of initiatives such as the doomed Red Wedge movement, Weller has told Shortlist he now ‘can’t be fucked’ with politics, and is more interested in what Russell Brand has to say.

“I can’t be fucked with it, really – and I’m not voting, either,” he said. “Definitely not. I wouldn’t know who to vote for, ’cos I can’t stand any of them.”

“A lot of things that Russell Brand says, I think, are pretty spot on. I’d be more inclined to vote for him, really. He’s kind of doing what the bands were doing back in the ’80s, I guess. At least some form of dissent, anyway.”

Someone from the music world with a keen interest is the Happy MondaysBez, who is bidding to be elected to Salford with his We Are The Reality party.
