Having just finished a UK tour at the Newcastle Academy last weekend, The Wombats have unveiled details of the largest headline show of their career.

The band will play a show at the Alexandra Palace in London on October 1st, tickets go on sale from 9am on April 24th. The gig should give a significant boost to their ‘Glitterbug‘ album, released earlier this month.

“That became the main inspiration for most of the songs, this false world that I’d created for myself,” frontman Matthew Murphy has said. “As time progressed, I’d go to L.A. more and more, and the idea kept on building. The album’s about the envy and the struggle and the pretence and the worry and the fear that L.A. – and every major city in the world – encompasses.”

‘Glitterbug’ was in a tight race for the top spot on the UK Album Chart during the first days of its release, but in the end charted at a still more than respectable position of #5.
