Super Furry Animals have added a third night in Cardiff to their surprise comeback shows in celebration of ‘Mwng‘s 15th anniversary.

The 2000 album is being re-released on May 1st in expanded two disc and triple vinyl formats, and the band’s first live shows in over six years will help mark the event from that release date. Joining previously confirmed outings in Glasgow, Manchester and London is a concert at the Cardiff University on May 3rd to go with the previous gigs at the same venue on the 1st and 2nd.

New material emerging from their return isn’t looking too likely according to frontman Gruff Rhys, who’s told NME:

“It’s all been a bit last minute so these gigs we’ve got booked are all we’re doing for now that we know. Everyone’s busy with other stuff. We all have very different lives and it would be difficult to recreate the intensity without being in the studio for 12 months at a time.”
