After delays, false starts and revisits, the next Maccabees album is indeed now ready to go and we should have a new single next month.

Giving an update to NME at the publication’s awards bash earlier this week, Felix White explained the pause since 2012’s ‘Given To The Wild‘ by saying: “It just had to be good enough. We thought it was going to be finished a year ago, but it just weren’t quite there and now I think it’s magic, so it’s done.”

While of the first single, he added: “The first single is maybe the quickest thing we’ve ever done. Quickest, loudest and also slowest, in parts. It’s opposite to ‘Give To The Wild’ in every kind of way, it sounds like a band in a room. I think the songs are a lot better.”

The Maccabees have been quietly returning to the live stage since supporting Kasabian late last year and play a sold-out Sheffield Leadmill this weekend.
