The Libertines ready to perform new songs at Reading/Leeds Festival

New songs will be aired by The Libertines when the band returns to Reading/Leeds in the summer for their second headline appearance at the twin festivals.

“I’m delighted with the new songs we’ve got so far, I was literally just listening to them, they’re belters,” Carl Barat has told NME of the new material. “I’m excited. There’s a lot of energy and jumping up and down and going fucking mental as much as The Libertines ever have inspired in people. There are some pretty emotional bits as well that will probably make me a little teary.”

Barat also told fans to expect a more ‘cohesive’ performance when compared to the last time The Libertines topped Reading/Leeds in 2010. “We’d just come from a 10-year quagmire of stodgy and gloom,” he continued.

“Of hospitals and prison and heartache and tears and piecing our life back together, and then we get back on stage in front of the biggest audience we’ve ever had, I think we were a little bit shaky.”
