Paul Weller has been outlining the ‘progressive’ nature of his new album ‘Saturn’s Pattern‘, which will be released in the spring.

“The tracks are quite long, but with some of them there’s almost like two or three different movements going on within one song,” he’s told Uncut.

“There’s a track called ‘Pick It Up’ which starts off with a funk groove but then it’s got some other sort of weird changes in it, and it ends up with this anthemic chorus.”

“There’s another tune called ‘In The Car’ which has three or four different parts to it. Is it my prog album? It’s certainly progressive in the literal sense of the word. It’s defiantly 21st century music.”

Weller released ‘More Modern Classics‘ – a collection of solo greatest hits which followed the original 1998 edition ‘Modern Classics‘ – last year, but this will be his first studio release since 2012’s ‘Sonik Kicks‘.

‘Saturn’s Pattern’ tracklist:

‘White Sky’
‘Saturn’s Pattern’
‘Going My Way’
‘Long Time’
”Pick It Up’
”Phoenix’
‘I’m Where I Should Be’
‘In The Car’
‘These City Streets’
