Muse appear to confirm new album title

It looks like Muse have quietly confirmed the title of their forthcoming new album will be ‘Drones‘.

The title was revealed by the band via the medium of a ten-second Instagram clip in which a monitor is briefly seen displaying the words: “Artist: Muse. Album: Drones”.

Muse began working on their first studio venture since 2012 last autumn, and are pursuing a harder rock sound more in keeping with their earlier work as opposed to the dubstep dabbles of ‘The 2nd Law‘ according to an update frontman Matt Bellamy gave to Radio.com a little while ago.

“We sort of focused on things like synthesizers, drum machines and various electronics and stuff,” he said. “I kind of feel like on this next album, we’re going to veer back towards musicianship again and focusing on our own instruments: guitar, bass and drums.”

Their booking as headliners at this year’s Download Festival seems to suggest as much; they’ll top the event’s Saturday bill this coming June.
