Idlewild will join a growing trend by releasing their own craft beer in celebration of the new album ‘Everything Ever Written‘, which is released on February 9th.

“Idlewild are a band of committed and enthusiastic craft beer and ale drinkers and Barneys beer has been a favourite for quite a while,” frontman Roddy Woomble states. They’ve joined forces with the Edinburgh-based brewery Barney’s Beer to create the Scottish Fiction IPA, 1250 bottles of which will be available from selected independent beer and wine shops.

‘Everything Ever Written‘ is set to become Idlewild’s first studio release since 2009 when it’s out early next month. Woomble has previously put the gap between albums partly down to him becoming ‘bored’ with life in a rock band.

“It’s like anything in life,” he told XFM. “The minute something starts to get stale, you really do need to change the environment. We’ve always stayed very close friends.”

“I was getting bored of being in a traditional rock band – so now we have keyboards and violins. It’s music I want to make. We just became a new entity.”
