Manic Street Preachers outline details for ‘Holy Bible’ UK gigs

It took them a little while to decide whether or not to mark the 20th anniversary of their landmark 1994 album ‘The Holy Bible‘ with some celebratory gigs, but in the end the Manic Street Preachers decided to do just that and will perform a handful of UK dates from next week.

Ahead of the launch on December 8th in Glasgow, the band have now released some more details on how the gigs will pan out via a post on Facebook. “The band will play two sets per night at each date. The first, beginning at 8.45 prompt, will feature ‘The Holy Bible’ in full,” it reads.

“After a ten-minute break, the band will play a second set featuring songs from ‘Futurology’ as well as curios and a handful of classic hits. There will be no support bands on the dates, just DJs handpicked by the band.”

‘The Holy Bible’ still hits hard as a painfully emotional, highly charged record which proudly stood in stark contrast to the happy-go-lucky Britpop boom which was already becoming apparent at the time of its release.

The LP proved to be their last with Richey Edwards, who disappeared around six months on from ‘The Holy Bible’ in February 1995.
