The Manic Street Preachers have added a show at the 10,000 capacity Cardiff Castle to their ‘Holy Bible‘ 20th anniversary celebrations.

The band started their UK tour dates at the Glasgow Barrowlands last night (December 8th) and will now perform more shows in May and June next year, culminating with the Cardiff headline. Also added are dates in Edinburgh, Wolverhampton and Southampton.

The Manics had been unsure as to whether they should mark the 20th birthday of their third album, which proved to be their last with guitarist Richey Edwards, but were persuaded to do so thanks to the success of their much more recent studio effort ‘Futurology‘.

“If we’d been coming off the back of a bit of a dud album then we probably would’ve thought people might think we’re doing this because we’ve had a bad year or something,” bassist Nicky Wire told the BBC. “But because we’ve had such a good year, it feels like the right time.”
