Karen O has revealed the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are on ‘a bit of a hiatus at the moment’ and have no specific plans for the future.
The New York band released their fourth album ‘Mosquito‘ in 2013, but this year has been about their singer’s new solo venture ‘Crush Songs‘, whose distinctly personal nature she’s previously described thus:
“When I was 27 I crushed a lot. I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.”
And in a new interview with NME, Karen O has been back on the subject of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, explaining: “We’re on a bit of hiatus at the moment, so nothing yet. We have to wait to get the urge, get that itch. The time needs to be right and we’re OK waiting for that, I think.”
“It’ll be like muscle memory, this unspoken thing between the three of us where it all just locks in,” she continued on what she expects when the band does reconvene.
