2004 Jack White single found hidden in furniture

Residents local to Jack White‘s hometown have begun finding records stitched into the backs of furniture.

Unsurprisingly it’s no coincidence. Jack White and his fascinating Third Man venture have shed light on the covert release; the track in question is the second single recorded by White and his friend Brian Muldoon when they were playing together as The Upholsterers. 100 copies were shoved down the back of couches by the pair in 2004 to celebrate Muldoon’s 25th year in the upholstering trade.

According to Third Man, two copies have been discovered so far (excuse the pun) and they’ve marked the achievement by releasing the singles’ artwork online.

2014 saw Jack White release his second solo album ‘Lazaretto‘, another unique venture whose so-called ‘ultra vinyl’ version contained, like the furniture, various hidden goodies such as dual speeds, hand-etched holograms and alternate mixes – all enough to make it the US’ fastest selling vinyl album since Nielsen Soundscan began monitoring such data back in 1991.
