The Libertines refuse to comment on Glastonbury headline rumours

A spokesperson for The Libertines has refused to comment on rumours that the band is being lined up to headline a stage at Glastonbury next June, reports NME.

One of The Sun’s army of dubious sources has been quoted as saying organisers are even weighing up the option of Pete Doherty, Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell – who reunited in the summer for a series of headline and festival dates around Europe – headlining the event’s main Pyramid Stage.

“The Libertines have been on Glastonbury’s wish list for ages but shot straight to the top when they saw the appetite for them,” the ‘source’ said. “They are still deciding if the band will headline the Pyramid or the Other Stage.”

There was apparently a ‘no comment’ response from a band spokesperson when asked to respond to the story, something which is likely to add their name to other bookies favourites for Glastonbury 2015 headliners which currently includes the likes of Muse, AC/DC and Prince.
