Despite him being back in rehab in Bangkok, Pete Doherty and Carl Barat are nevertheless making good on their promise to work on new Libertines material following their busiest summer of live commitments in a decade.

But one man who won’t be returning to the fold is producer and former Clash legend Mick Jones.

Jones helmed the sessions which resulted in The Libertines’ 2002 modern classic debut ‘Up The Bracket‘, and rekindled the winning collaboration on the much more chaotic 2004 self-titled follow-up. However, any future studio release from the band is unlikely to have his involvement, as he outlined during an interview with NME; “I’m so pleased The Libertines are back together,” he said.

“There’s unfinished business there, isn’t there? I’m sure the new songs will be great, but I probably won’t be producing them. The Libertines don’t need me anyway; they’re such a great band that any producer will get good music from them.”
