Publicist denies Robert Plant turned down £500m to reunite Led Zeppelin

A publicist has dismissed tabloid stories that Sir Richard Branson had run into the Robert Plant-shaped brick wall which Jimmy Page has become so used to this year.

The stories, which in response have been simply called ‘rubbish’, suggested Branson had hoped a cool £500m would be enough to entice Plant back to the Led Zeppelin fold for a full blown reunion tour – 35 dates no less. But, as Page has found to his frustration, they claimed the frontman remained uninterested in a return for the legendary band which last, briefly, played live together in 2007.

“They have tried to talk Plant round but there is no chance,” a ‘source’ was quoted as saying. “His mind is made up and that’s that.”

“Jimmy, John and Jason signed up immediately. It was a no-brainer for them but Robert asked for 48 hours to think about it. When he said no and ripped up the paperwork he had been given, there was an enormous sense of shock.”
