U2 to be both ‘explosive’ and ‘intimate’ on next world tour

u2Last time out it was all about the grandeur, the Claw, 360 degrees, ultimately about achieving the highest grossing world tour ever.

This time, there’ll still be the grandeur, but according to U2‘s bass player Adam Clayton, the band will also be looking to put on far more intimate concerts in the cities they visit after releasing ‘Songs Of Innocence‘ earlier this month.

“There is talk of doing two different kinds of shows,” he’s told Rolling Stone. “One night would be a kind of loud, explosive rock’n’roll kind of event and then the other night’s show take the acoustic arrangements of some of the songs, and kind of present those songs in a much more intimate way. But we don’t really know how that’s going to sound and look.”

Following the high profile free iTunes release, U2’s thirteenth studio album debuted at #6 on the UK Album Chart, their lowest first week position since 1981’s ‘October‘.
