Liam Howlett: Prodigy’s new album a reaction to ‘all that DJ bollocks’

prodigyIf survivors from the nineties rock world are constantly telling us how how things have plunged downhill since their day, then it seems their dance contemporaries aren’t too keen with what’s going on on their patch either.

Take Prodigy‘s creative force Liam Howlett, who’s told Q Magazine his band’s latest album is a violent reaction to what he calls ‘all that DJ bollocks’ which now dominates the dance genre.

“Dance music across all types has become formula-based,” he is quoted as saying. “It’s, ‘Here’s your drum fill, here’s your build’. All that DJ bollocks and tutorials on YouTube shit. This album is totally organic. Pure violent energy.”

Prodigy’s as-yet-untitled sixth album is all set to contain a collaboration with everyone’s current favourite purveyors of close to the bone gutter-lyrics Sleaford Mods, called ‘Ibiza‘, while other working titles are ‘Beyond The Death Ray‘, ‘Nasty Nasty‘, ‘Get Your Fight On‘, ‘Wall Of Death‘ and ‘Rottweiler‘.
